Sellers… Why Home Staging is Essential: Spotting the 3 Telltale Signs

When it comes to selling your home, first impressions matter. Professional staging is effective but costly so how do you know if it is a worthwhile expense for YOUR home? Here are 3 tell-tale signs that your home needs staging!

How we live in a home is not the same as how we sell a home. Our home is our haven and works for OUR lives, but can a stranger walk through the door and see how it can work for THEM? A staged home sells for 6% to 20% more than an empty home or one that is not properly staged and staging can reduce a home’s time on the market by 1/3 to ½ – but staging is not free. So, before you pull the trigger and strike that check, here are 3 signs that YOUR home needs staging.

#1. IT’S EMPTY. It can be much simpler to move out of your home before you put it on the market. No last-minute schedule changes and no cleaning up for showings…but buyers will look at your home online before ever scheduling to see it and empty rooms are not attractive and do not give a scale for room sizes. Drywall and floors do not sell. Homes do. Staging makes YOUR house a HOME.

#2. CONFUSING ROOMS. Tiny rooms, multiple non-purpose rooms, massive multi-purpose rooms. Both online and in person, buyers often need help EASILY seeing how they would live in a home. Buyers have a lot on their plates, and we want to make your home a SIMPLE decision. Simplify their search and illustrate the beautiful ways your home can satisfy THEIR needs.

#3. OLD, LOUD, OR OVERSIZED FURNITURE. When a buyer walks through your home, we want them to start imagining their lives there, not be distracted by the old plaid couch or how the bed is crammed in diagonally to fit in the room. Staging furnishes in a way that best and most beautifully showcases your home.

Before you panic about staging prices, you should know there are a range of services from full staging to partial staging, and simple re-staging. Come back next month and we’ll help you figure out the best fit for your needs. Till then!
